This is a portion of a painting I did for a giftware company when I was freelancing on a weekly basis for them back in 1992. That was back when P.O.P. was designed and painted by hand, and work was hand delivered to the client. I miss that "human" touch from time to time. Now everything is done electonically.
Charming--perfect!
ReplyDeletePrecious and so darn colorful! I love buttons ;) I know I hope these old ways never disappear!
ReplyDeleteLovely! cute details, colors and light
ReplyDeletelove your work! such detail and bright fun colors. neat, neat.
ReplyDeleteaaah the good ol' days! i love this, it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove the colors Kate! This drawing has such a warm, cozy feeling to it ... I think because of the wooden spool and country feel that is so familiar to me. Really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGreat work, Kate! Very nice.
ReplyDeleteThat must be one soft boiled egg if you can stick a pin in it. ;-) Very nice! And I miss the human touch too.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! I love your artwork!!

ReplyDeleteHi Kathleen....lovely work and the colour and texture is divine...
ReplyDeleteI will be working on my IF sketch on Saturday....we were out all night enjoying food and family....
I have a simple Yummy Sketch today as I do some research on a special request ....
Have a wonderful day!
Cheers,
Diana
Beautiful Kate! I have no idea what I'd do with an offer to do illustrations if they required computer knowledge. They'd have to settle for "by-hand" from me.That's all I know how to do :)
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Kate! I love the colours and those buttons are so cute!
ReplyDeleteReally Lovely!!! Great use of color pencils
ReplyDeleteNice colors !
ReplyDeleteVery sweet! Hey, I have an illustrator friend whose agent makes it a point to tell clients my friend does not do digital...the actual pieces get fed-exed to their offices. The clients are always besides themselves with disbelief! I think you have to be pretty high up on the illo food chain to do things that way anymore though.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! You can always tell when something has your touch...no matter what. :)
ReplyDeletedi
Wow, kate. This has what I called "happy colors". Good choice!
ReplyDeletebeautiful kathleen!!
ReplyDeletea : )
lovely artwork, kathleen!
ReplyDeleteyeah.. those were the days.. i had a classmate in photoshop class who paints soo good by hand and he insists that not knowing any technology won't make him sell his work nowadays. even how hard i try to convince him, being twice my age he says otherwise.
REAlly beautiful and colorful!
ReplyDeleteI remember when I used to recreate illustrations over and over again to fit the medium. Oh, I wish those days would come back. We always made so much more money that way, right? Your style is still very recognizeable and bright after all these years.
ReplyDeleteVery clever idea. Love the colors.
ReplyDeletebeautiful colours! excellent painting :)
ReplyDeleteThis works perfect Kate!
ReplyDeleteHi Kathleen...
ReplyDeletehope you had a wonderful weekend...
to start off the week I have finished your warm cup of tea with a nice plate of petite fours...you asked for a small plate but I made enough for the both of us...lol
Have a great day!
Cheers,
Diana
The human touch certainly shines through in this piece. It is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely! The colors look really wonderful to me as I watch the snow fall - so vibant and cheerful. I also love your illustration for 100%... I think I'll make a cup of tea! Happy new year!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful Kate :o) Your work is always so delicate, love it!
ReplyDeletebeautiful and precious color!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Whimsical and vibrant yet still manages to be so delicate.
ReplyDeleteI sort of miss those days too. I remember doing marker comps, drawing lines to indicate text and cutting ruby. It was an art and it was fun. But I have to admit, it's so much easier to make changes now, with digital design.
Great submission for "stitch".
Hi Kathleen...hope your Monday is going well...
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Cheers,
Diana

ReplyDeleteJohn
Lovely piece, there is something to be missed about paper and paint!
ReplyDeleteNice work. It seems a couple of your latest entries have been a little looser and /or less finished than usual. I really like the unpolished look of these newer entries.
ReplyDeleteI like this illustration - color and style very harmony. Great work.
ReplyDeleteHello Kate - I know you're very busy, but if you get a spare moment I wondered if you would do me a favor...I am in the process of creating an online portfolio to get a new graphic design position and want to include a piece or two from IF. If any piece stands out for you, please let me know. I want something very professional and creative, as my work at my job hasn't given me the opportunity to "shine". Your artistic eye I trust, but if you don't have time, I fully understand.
ReplyDeletePeace and joy ~Michelle
Kate, I thank you very much for getting back to me so quickly and sharing your eye and expertise. Your feedback is valuable and I will keep you posted on my progress.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your artful journey!
~Michelle
