Illustration Friday - "Pretend"

Kids sure have fun pretending!
I think that is why kids will love this book I am illustrating. There will be a yoga pose for every letter of the alphabet!

From "The ABC's of Yoga for Kids", written by author and yoga instructor Teresa Anne Power.

  1. Oh Kate, I love the shark one, especially the bubbled (salted) water. That's my favorite that I've seen from your yoga book so far.

  3. Hi Kate,
from Joan's friend Heather, who speaks so highly of you always.

I just wanted to say that I absolutely love your yoga drawings!! They are so lovely and I especially love this shark one, as others have said as well.

I live in a yoga community and would love to share the book with all the kids who live here, once it comes out.

Thanks for all the beauty that you and Joan share! Aloha. Heather

  9. Thanks everyone.

Phyllis - Teresa is self-publishing the book. I usually stay away from self-publishers, but it has been a good venture for both of us.

  26. heh... i like your illustrations always have... my friend has been working on some yoga animations for the past month and that has taken all her time... she's left her classroom project in between and gone to finish the animation... she's been working day and night and she's a nervous wreck... sometime back, she was in my room, scanning some more yoga images, and i was going through your blog... she saw your sketches, looked at me and screamed!! hee hee... was good fun... she thought i was trying to torment her... :)

  31. I am in awe, they are all so beautiful!! It was so great to see you today, sorry I was distracted when I left, I had to make a marathon call, to my friend in OH, who I can also chat with for four hours! I thought by making the time for 3, that it would give us enough time, apparently not! I won't double book next time! Looking at my calendar for December!!

  33. As I attempt to bend over to touch my knees, I'm made acutely aware of how "other worldly" yoga is. Maybe if I had been introduced to it as a child, I wouldn't be the stiff old man I am today. Here's to your attempt to enlighten the young generation. Very nice illustrations!

  37. What a brilliant idea, to always give the children something they can remember the yoga pose by, like the dolphin. Well done, Kate.
And yes, let's stay in touch better this year than we did last year. It would be my pleasure.

  40. it's hard to believe the author is self-publishing because I think this will be a blockbuster! I'll bet one of the "big guys" will see this circulating and offer a contract. Sometimes that's how it happens to some of the best- sellers out there! You're doing an amazing job with the pairings and postures. And of course those sweet faces!
