Thanks everyone. I usually post my sweet children's book style illustrations, but I know not everything in life is happy and comfortable. I felt like doing something different this week.
wow. immediately powerful. the way you have drawn him, he could even be a really benign guy, too. until he opens his mouth and that hideous temper comes out. great great sketch! :)
A simple image that evokes an intensity that kicks us in the gut. Incredible pencil work Kathleen. You are very capable of evoking a wide variety of emotions. It's a sign of a very, very talented artist.
Wow Kate, what an amazing drawing and a very profound subject. This shows your versatality and range as well. It's astonishing how women could for one second stay in such a situation, but it's even more astonishing that any guy could sleep at night thinking it's alright to act this way.
What a sad situation that I'm sure many many women have to live through each day. I too have never understood why one would stay, but I've never (THANK GOODNESS) had to deal with that. So who knows how battered your self-esteem gets by that point? Very powerful images...your work is great, includes a variety of styles. Thanks for sharing!
You've got to hate guys like that, guys like him need to get counseling. Nobody deserved to be treated that way. Nobody. Way to tackle a tough subject.
Really great Kathleen, makes me feel angry and sad inside just looking at it, which is a good and appropriate response. I think your attention to detail in capturing the facial expressions and body language is what makes it work so well, take care.
This illustration is really well done! It is a change from your regular posts, but still very effective! It is sad that some women actually put up with such abusive behavior. I for one do not put up with anything! It's a good thing I think!
Wow, very thought-provoking piece! I think the fact that this verbal abuse "had now become a routine part of their lives" is an emergency situation in itself. It is definately NOT ok to scream at people at anyone like this.
Excellent pencil work, Kathleen. You've boldly captured the couples' body language in your composition. The accompanying prose accents this piece admirably. An intense situation to be sure.
Kate... I hope this is not an everyday event in your home... In my line of work I run into alot of women that stay in relationships like the one this picture suggests and its not worth it.... If you are in a situation like this it best for both of you to end things... I hope your safe...
Powerful piece, Kathleen. I can feel the screaming! Ack. Love the technique. Your pencil work is beautiful.
