I try to do an illustration specifically for IF every Friday, but I am late this week. So this is just a quick sketch with pen & ink and Pantone markers (all ranges of grey tones) on ivory sketchbook paper. As simple as it is, I think working with pen & ink and neutral greys sets a nice mood. Look at my post for Gravity...I used the same method. Sometimes I like to get back to the basics.
Awww... how sweet. I love looking at the stars too. And Winston's favorite time to take a walk was just when the stars and the lightning bugs would light up the night.
And much good success with your new venture. I am not a good scrapbooker and kits like yours would make a world of difference !
One of my favorite memories as a kid was lying on the grass and looking at the stars. . .or clouds. Cute illustrations. They are so adorable together. I love beagles. One of my favorite book as a kid was Barney Beagle.
I'd like to be stretched out on that hill with them. A totally warm and restful feeling I get looking at this. Love the style and love the beagle; his paws, and those ears. Fine piece of work!
I really like the mood of your illustration. And the dog is so cute. I also like the idea of using shades of grey. It's funny but I "discovered" Orion only this year - for the first time I was able to identify the 3 stars that make the belt and I don't really know how I could miss them before.
Digital Scott -- Yep, I have a Mac! Thanks for the tip. I so love looking at the stars and planets. Venus was very visible here last week, and it was near the moon which was just a sliver in the sky. Love it! Thanks!!
oh, these two are sooo sweet. love their soft weightiness... their expressions... the pups soft drapey ears... the entire mood of the illo... the palette. very nice!
I wish that was me. I'm glad you shared your know how with us, I'm new to these mediums. I've always used a #2 pencil and now I'm starting to get the hang of the Prismacolor pencils and markers. Thanks for the comment.
I wish i were there,I have, been there! ... Pretty soon the weather here will be nice again and I will take a few moments to relive this experience . nice value drawing, soft feelings. Great job
