lol wonderful illo. reminds me of my son when he was young. he always wanted me to measure how tall he had grown each day. finally i told em i'd measure him and his sister every new years day. they use to bring me my tape measure when it was time, just to remind me.
MD - that is a really sweet memory. I remember loving to line up to be measured as a child - especially for the couple of years I was taller than my brother. : )
So cute! I like how he is missing a tooth too! They just want to grow up! I was thinking the other day how I sometimes forget how old I am, but my kids always know exactly how old they are!
This awakens a beautiful memory: When I was about thirteen, my family and I went back to a place we used to go to on vacation when I was just a baby and my siblings weren't even born yet. We looked into the window and saw that the marks my parents had made right beside the door, saying 'julia, 1 1/2 years', or '2 years' were still there. The owners had left them all those years which made me fell a little special. Thank you for this beautiful and touching illustration. (ps: the 'big hip' joke has yet to be matched. I'm thinking about it.)
