Awesome Kate! The boy's expression is precious! What a perfect IF submission!
this is so cute, i do it with my class of 5 year olds, measuring them early and then later in the school year. they enjoy it so much.

Beautifully drawn and rendered, Kate. The child's face is adorable.
Really nice :D Argh I was thinkin on the same for this week IFArgh I have to think more!:Dciao
This is so lovely, I love his cute little expression, just perfect !
lol wonderful illo. reminds me of my son when he was young. he always wanted me to measure how tall he had grown each day. finally i told em i'd measure him and his sister every new years day. they use to bring me my tape measure when it was time, just to remind me.
Thanks everyone!MD - that is a really sweet memory. I remember loving to line up to be measured as a child - especially for the couple of years I was taller than my brother. : )
Awwww they are cuuute. I especially like the doggie. My parents did that for us too. It is a strange thing to grow up.
You've done a beautiful job on this! He can't wait to see how tall he is! Even poochie feels his excitement :) Great, kate!
So cute! I like how he is missing a tooth too! They just want to grow up! I was thinking the other day how I sometimes forget how old I am, but my kids always know exactly how old they are!
Adorable. I like that the years are numbered rather than the inches. So, how old is the puppy?
Oh so cute! His expression is priceless and the dog's happy face is the perfect addition.
Kids are so excited to see how much they grow! This illustration is gorgeous!
grat idea and illo - what kid didn't get excited about growing even a smidgen!
Very inspired illustration!

Hey this is delightful!!! Really wonderful and expressive. Thanks for all your comments too.
This awakens a beautiful memory: When I was about thirteen, my family and I went back to a place we used to go to on vacation when I was just a baby and my siblings weren't even born yet. We looked into the window and saw that the marks my parents had made right beside the door, saying 'julia, 1 1/2 years', or '2 years' were still there. The owners had left them all those years which made me fell a little special. Thank you for this beautiful and touching illustration. (ps: the 'big hip' joke has yet to be matched. I'm thinking about it.)
That's so cute! But he's either a giant at almost 7 feet, or a pixie at almost 7 inches!
