My Little Mermaid - spot illo

©Kathleen Rietz
Here is a spot illustration I painted to accompany the mermaid illustration (BELOW) which I painted yesterday. I have been working on trying to create portfolio pieces that tell a story. These illustrations were based on the Illustration Friday theme "Tales & Legends" from 2 weeks ago. You can see the preliminary sketch for the main illustration if you scroll down the page a bit.

  4. Thank you for your nice comment on my blog. The gratitude I express everyday may seem corny to some but I swear it has changed my life and perspective. Not that I wasn't grateful before, I just notice so much more now. (And my daily illustrations have been life changing too, more so than the gratitude!)

It is nice to meet you also. I really like your blog and have visited many time before. I'll be back for more.

  6. A perfect accompaniment to the wee mermaid! You create such wonderfully whimsical characters, and I don't think I've ever met a starfish with as much personality as this one, hee hee.

  10. I feel like singing "Under the sea" from "The Little Mermaid"!!I know that these works aren't from "The little mermaid" but they are outstanding in giving the feeling of being underwater. What a wonderful job you did! Thanks for sharing with us!!!
