I am sort of on this little sketching kick lately...sketching boys and their dogs. If you have ever had a new puppy, you know how ready they are to leap up and nip your nose at any moment.
See the color version HERE and let me know which you like better..

Kate, that is adorable! You should color this one. Or, submitting it as black and white is fine too. It looks finalized for your portfolio as is. Love the little heart spots on the puppy's back and wonderful hair on the boy.

I really think you should try to have a portfolio only with B&W pieces.. they are so incredible soft and sweet. And there is something very charming about the grey tones and the sepias you always use. I'm sure ADs would love to wee a whole portfolio of these illustrations!

ReplyDeleteSo sweet Kate. There's a real warmth and softness in your sketches. I could see a whole series of these--you're on to something I think!
ReplyDeletethey are so sweet, the way they look at each other... I love the boys eyes and hair.
ReplyDeleteI'm usually going to vote for the non-color pieces just because there is something great about a solid work that pulls off without it...but I have to say I really like the pop of the colored one!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing sketch... the richness of your shading and delicate detail. Such strong work.
ReplyDeleteI really love this -- it reminds me of my two dogs (I got them as pups), and one of them was lost and found again recently. Great work.
